Correct answer: Provide the information requested OR explain why it is unavailable — acknowledgment alone is not sufficient
A proper response must be substantive: the servicer must either (a) provide the information or correction the borrower requested, or (b) if the information is unavailable, explain WHY and provide whatever related information IS available. Simply acknowledging receipt ("we got your letter") does NOT qualify as a response. The servicer must address the borrower's specific concern with facts, findings, or a clear explanation of its position.
