Correct answer: A separate branch license through NMLS for the new location
Alabama requires each principal place of business AND each branch office to be separately licensed. A main office license does NOT cover additional locations. The branch must be licensed through NMLS. Note: Alabama eliminated the physical office requirement as of August 21, 2009 — a physical office is not required for licensing. However, if a physical office is maintained, it must comply with local zoning (cannot be residential) and must have at least one enclosed room where loan negotiations can occur privately.
