Uniform State Test (UST) · 11% of the SAFE exammedium
Correct answer: 5 years from the date the exam was passed
Under the SAFE Act, an individual who does not obtain a valid license or active federal registration within five years of passing the MLO exam must retake the test. The same rule applies to licensed originators who fail to maintain a valid license for five consecutive years — they must retake the exam and achieve a passing score of at least 75 percent. Two years (A) and three years (B) are incorrect thresholds. "2 years from the date the exam was passed" is incorrect — the exam result does expire if the individual does not act on it within five years.
